02The evidence standard

We grade the evidence, not the person.

An allegation is not a finding, and a charge is not a conviction. Every record reflects what the evidence establishes at that time. LegalEvidence does not accept payment, favors or other consideration to remove, suppress or alter a record. Records change only when the evidence does.

Evidence classification
Every material claim is assigned a clear evidentiary status based on the record supporting it.
2
Claims against the record
What is alleged or asserted is distinguished from what the available evidence establishes.
3
Verifiable sources
Every material citation identifies the underlying document, authority or source and the date it was obtained or published.
4
Right of reply
Before publication, the subject is given a reasonable opportunity to respond. Any material response is reflected in the record.

Court filings, corporate records, regulatory materials, interviews and other supporting evidence are collected, authenticated and organised into an evidentiary file.

  4. 04

    Editorial Review

The verified evidentiary file is provided to the journalist responsible for the record. Reporting must remain within what the evidence can support.
